Another project featuring textured entwining cables...one of my favorites techniques to knit!
I don't knit a lot of projects that make use of multiple colors, preferring instead to work in a single color that highlights texture and relief instead. (I need to force encourage myself to tackle some color-work projects!) This scarf really fit the bill, although it was time-consuming to knit. I'm glad to have completed it and look forward to wearing it in the cooler weather. It was knit using a washable wool yarn for warmth and softness.
A Norwegian couple, Arne & Carlos, develop the most beautiful patterns that they sell on their website. (They also have a very helpful Youtube channel for teaching knitting techniques.)
Their Kyrre Scarf with Cables is—in their words—a beautiful scarf with a simple but striking pattern inspired by traditional Norwegian stockings and wood carvings, which were used as decoration in ancient churches and other wooden buildings across Norway.
